Amlodipine-losartan

What is Amlodipine-losartan?

Amlodipine-losartan, also known as combination of valsartan-aamlodipne was previously used and now losartan is paired together as Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that reduces blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. Amlodipine belongs to a class of medications called calcium channel blockers which also helps in reducing high blood pressure.

What is Amlodipine-losartan used for?

Amlodipine-losartan, also known as Amturnide, is a prescription medication that combines the active ingredients amlodipine and losartan. Amlodipine belongs to a class of medications called calcium channel blockers (CCBs), which work by relaxing blood vessels and reducing blood pressure.

The addition of losartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARB), enhances the blood pressure-lowering effects of amlodipine. This dual-action mechanism allows Amlodipine-losartan to more effectively control high blood pressure in patients who are already taking a calcium channel blocker or other blood pressure medications.

Amlodipine-losartan is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, specifically in adults and children aged 6 years and older. It has been shown to be an effective and well-tolerated medication in lowering blood pressure and managing cardiovascular risks associated with hypertension. As a combination therapy, Amlodipine-losartan is intended for use when initial monotherapy with either amlodipine or losartan does not achieve the desired therapeutic effect on blood pressure.
